Clanwilliam Town Tour

Nestled at the foot of the Cederberg mountains, Clanwilliam is a picturesque town of historic white Cape Dutch homesteads, tumbling bougainvilleas and tall palm trees. It is the seventh oldest town in our country, is rich in Settler history and is surrounded by rooibos fields, citrus orchards and ancient rock art.

Very much a part of Clanwilliam's history is Strassberger's Velskoen Factory where you can buy yourself a durable, but comfy pair of "vellies".
A walk-about through town with a knowledgeable local inhabitant of this town will take you past these Cape Dutch buildings in Park and Main Street, the Flower Church designed by Sophie Gray, the Old Jail Museum where homage is paid to C. Louis Leipoldt and the San people, and further down Main Street as far as the Anglican Church.
Afterwards, watch a video about the local rooibos industry at The House of Rooibos and then quench your thirst with rooibos, the nectar of nature, and taste a few new rooibos flavours at Velskoendraai Farmstall.
Enjoy a hearty lunch prepared with local produce also at Velskoendraai Farmstall.

09h15	Meet local guide for a historic walk through the old town of Clanwilliam
10h00	Tour through the old jail which is now a very modern museum
11h00	We visit Strassberger leather shoe factory, where you can fit a nice pair of "vellies"
11h30	Our own nature garden is our next stop, to learn more about the plants of our area
12h15	Depart for lunch at Velskoendraai

13h15	Depart for a scenic drive though the foothills of the majestic Cederberg Mountains Visit to C. Louis Leipoldt's grave Photo stop on top of the Pakhuys Pass A gentle short stroll to one of the well known rock formations of the Cederberg "Soldaatkop"
